It adds 9 new missions split across 3 campaigns, 2 German & 1 US. I think Tales of Valor is necessary to have if you want the complete package of CoH. Tales of Valor is a standalone expansion to CoH, so not really a sequel. Still a great game however.Īre the sequels Tales of Valor and CoH2 as good as the first one? I had no problem with the game having trade offs to the different armies, it was not as if the Normandy Campaign was "balanced" in reality.
Other things like this, such as removing the Stormtroopers whenever you call in the StuH 42 or Tiger in the Blitzkrieg doctrine, it seems just to be able to "balance" a game, which we have to remember ended up practically being an e-sport, changed the experience enough for me that I actually miss the older, pre-expansion version. Patch after patch meant they ended up making both have the same field of fire & range now, if I do not remember incorrectly. These trade offs were not bad at all, they meant you had to be tactical in different ways with the different armies. The US 57mm had a shorter range but a wider field of fire, plus the ability to use AP rounds. In the beginning, the Pak 40's had a narrower field of fire but I believe had a longer range. Unfortunately, I do think that its popularity helped change it too much. The way the different armies, just 2 at the time, had 3 different doctrines each meant you could spend ages playing different styles on different maps. I played the demo before release & I fell in love with it so I didn't hesitate to get it on release.
